Eman’s casting came as a shock to many as it was previously reported that Mena Massoud was the frontrunner to play the part. Several sources claimed that the live-action Aladdin actor has actually been cast as the beloved Rebels character and he even fueled speculation by dropping a few hints on social media. Well, it turns out that Lucasfilm had a different actor in mind.However, in a surprising new development, Massoud finally confirmed that he in fact tried out for the role but “never really had a fair shot at it”. Taking to Twitter, the 30-year-old actor says he’s relieved that the rumors have finally been put to rest and that he hopes Eman’s portrayal will be done justice. As unfortunate and frustrating as it is for him to not get cast in the series, I’m pretty a new door will open for him in the near future. Who knows? Ahsoka is expected to hit Disney+ in 2023.
