Eman’s casting came as a shock to many as it was previously reported that Mena Massoud was the frontrunner to play the part. Several sources claimed that the live-action Aladdin actor has actually been cast as the beloved Rebels character and he even fueled speculation by dropping a few hints on social media. Well, it turns out that Lucasfilm had a different actor in mind.However, in a surprising new development, Massoud finally confirmed that he in fact tried out for the role but “never really had a fair shot at it”. Taking to Twitter, the 30-year-old actor says he’s relieved that the rumors have finally been put to rest and that he hopes Eman’s portrayal will be done justice.
