Fans of his are torn about where he should be more known: as BBC’s Sherlock or as the MCU’s Doctor Strange? Or rather, even other of his indie projects and theater plays. But it would seem that Cumberbatch himself has come to address this, by comparing his success as Sherlock Holmes as opposed to Doctor Strange.

Speaking with The Talks, Cumberbatch shared his thoughts on exploring a variety of ranges in his career thus far, going from Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series to becoming a part of the MCU as Doctor Strange, and eventually, even controlling the multiverse. Read his full comment below:

Surely, seeing as Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange is a part of the next generations of supers in the MCU, his fame will continue to grow, and perhaps he may even bring more to the table on the many sides of Stephen Strange aside from the most vulnerable we had seen in the Multiverse of Madness. The actor continues to say, all that matters to him in this career is one way: moving forward.

“I am not really interested in going up and up and up. I don’t think there is much further to go anyway; I like an unrestricted flow of movement — up or down — as far as career goes.”

There are no official announcements yet on a Doctor Strange 3 movie, but rest assured, Benedict Cumberbatch would be down to reprise his role.
