In an online post, Disney+ Japan revealed three MCU streaming projects that will hit the platform next year. Starting with the Secret Invasion, which releases in the spring of 2023, it will star Samuel L. Jackson as Fury, with Cobie Smulders also reprising her role as Maria Hill. Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke and Dublin Murders star Killian Scott have also been cast in the project, which will span six episodes and showcase a faction of shapeshifting Skrulls who have been infiltrating Earth for years.

Premiering next summer, Loki season two will follow Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Owen Wilson’s Mobius, and Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie as they once again travel the Marvel Multiverse, this time with the aid of series newcomer Ke Huy Quan. “Season 2 picks up where season 1 left off,” Hiddleston told D23 Expo attendees in September 2022. “Loki is back in the TVA, and Mobius doesn’t seem to know who he is.” The Season 1 finale saw Loki in an alternate timeline after he and Sylvie faced He Who Remains, a.k.a. Kang (Jonathan Majors).

To follow her MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams will star in her own MCU streaming series, Ironheart, that is expected to hit the streaming service in Fall 2023. The show will follow a 19-year-old MIT student as she navigates being both a superhero and one of the brightest minds at her university. Thorne will be joined by Anthony Ramos of Hamilton and In the Heights fame, who will play The Hood. This Is Us mainstay Lyric Ross will portray Riri’s best friend.

The announcement of the aforementioned three titles hasn’t surprised the fans at all, given that Secret Invasion and Loki have always been in for a 2023 release, and it was widely assumed Ironheart would as well, but fans were more shocked that other titles are missing from the Disney+ slate for next year, despite some of them being previously confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).

At SDCC, what if…? Season 2 was confirmed for early 2023, Echo for summer 2023, X-Men 97 for fall 2023, and Agatha: Coven of Chaos for winter 2023. However, these titles are currently missing from the list and are more likely to be released in 2024 or later, but fans can still hope that these projects will be confirmed for a release later in 2023.
