What Is the Plot of Blue Box?
Blue Box follows the budding relationship between high school badminton player Taiki Inomata and female basketball star player Chinatsu Kano. While Taiki is a capable badminton player, Chinatsu’s popularity in the academy prevents him from closing the gap between the two of them, let alone dating her! In Eimei Academy, Taiki strives to attend open practices as early as possible, but his long-time crush, Chinatsu, always arrives before him every single time. In a sudden twist of fate, Taiki finally gets to know Chinatsu better when she starts living with him in the same house after Chinatsu’s parents decide to work abroad. Is Blue Box Getting an Anime?
Unfortunately, news of a Blue Box anime is neither confirmed nor announced, so fans will have to make do with reading the manga for the time being. The good news is that, given how well Blue Box has been received by critics and manga readers alike, an anime adaptation is very likely in the future. As a matter of fact, the first volume of Blue Box has sold over 170,000 copies in less than a week since its release in August 2021. In addition, the manga was nominated for the 7th Kadokawa’s Next Manga Award in the Best Print Manga category, finishing 8th out of 50 nominees. Blue Box finished eighth, but the manga won the global prize. Furthermore, the series came in fourth place on the recently held National Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics of 2022 list. Blue Box by Koji Miura is available for free on the Manga Plus website. As of writing, the manga has been updated until Chapter 80, with Chapter 81 due on December 11, 2022. It can also be read on Viz Media’s official website, where recent chapters are free for everyone to read. The first volume of Blue Box is now available in digital English copy on Google Play, iBooks, Kindle, and Nook. Meanwhile, the manga’s second and third volumes are already available for pre-order on the official website of Viz Media. The second volume will be available on January 3, 2023, followed by the third volume on March 7, 2023.
