Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Reckoning Games Release New Teasers At D23

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora (TBA) is a first-person action-adventure set in an open-world environment, allowing players to explore the rich world of Pandora for the very first time, without the movie theater or Disney World. Now, in an interview with IGN, Avatar (2009) and Avatar 2: The Way of Water director James Cameron has finally discussed the upcoming open-world game: “We’re very excited about what Ubisoft is doing with their game authoring. I don’t tell them what to do — they know their world, their business, their market. We just keep a close eye that they don’t do anything that’s not canonical in terms of Na’vi culture and what the RDA is doing on Pandora and all that sort of thing.”

He then went on to discuss the future of the Avatar franchise, taking into account the game, as well as the upcoming sequels and of course the themed land at Walt Disney World Resort, Pandora - The World of Avatar: “Ubisoft on their side are likely to push back a little bit and I haven’t drilled down on exactly what the deal is with that but what we’re looking for now is to create a persistent, visit-able world with a cadence of sequels. If we’re successful we’ll go ahead and we’ll have a movie every two years or so for quite a while. And we’ve got the [World of Pandora] in Florida — and who knows that might wind up at other theme parks in the Disney regime as well.”

As per the official Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora website, here’s the synopsis for the game: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora™ is a first person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment – a Ubisoft studio, in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney.Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience. In this new, standalone story, play as a Na’vi and embark on a journey across the Western Frontier, a never-before-seen part of Pandora. Explore a living and reactive world inhabited by unique creatures and new characters, and push back the formidable RDA forces that threaten it.
