Park Seo Joon’s Itaewon Class Tops Netflix Japan
Per Flix Patrol, a streaming data aggregator platform, the 2020 K-drama Itaewon Class ranked first place in Netflix Japan as of July 25. The webtoon-based series beats Kim Hee Sun’s remarriage and desires, which dominated the third week of July. Interestingly, the popularity of the Itaewon Class seemed to be connected after its Japanese remake Roppongi Class aired this July. The adaptation also made it to the top 10 TV shows after landing at seventh place. Park Seo Joon’s Itaewon Class is among the most hyped K-drama in 2020, achieving a whopping nationwide viewership rating of 16.5 percent.

The 16-part episode series illustrates the colorful life of Park Saeroyi, who was expelled from school and had to serve jail time for punching a school bully and the heir to a major food company. Instead of taking revenge, he opened a restaurant right in the middle of Seoul’s entertainment district and was able to overcome the challenges brought by the food company mogul. Joining Park Seo Joon in Itaewon Class are Kim Da Mi, Kwon Nara, Yoo Jae Myung, and Ahn Bo Hyun.
Wooga Squad’s Variety Show In The Soop: Friendcation Reigns Disney+ Japan
From his K-drama to Park Seo Joon’s new variety show, In The Soop: Friendcation, the program dominated Disney+ Japan’s tv show rankings after it aired its premiere on July 22. The show features real-life celebrity friends, also known as the Wooga Squad, which includes BTS’s V, Choi Woo Shik, Park Hyung Sik, raper Peakboy, and of course, Park Seo Joon. It follows their journey as they embark on a four days, three nights vacation together.
