However, we haven’t heard a lot of updates regarding the project’s development ever since their San Diego Comic-Con presentation last July. There’s also been a rumor in the past couple of days that the show has been canceled after several crew members were reportedly let go from the project although none of it has been confirmed yet at this point. Now, a recent report from The Cosmic Circus has seemingly put those rumors to rest as they claimed that Disney+ and Marvel are eyeing a fall 2024 release window for Spider-Man: Freshman Year.

In addition, they also reported that Disney+ and Marvel will monitor the audience’s interest in the show worldwide before they decide whether they will move forward with a second season which will be titled Spider-Man: Sophomore Year, and the delay in production caused the alleged layoffs. So far, Marvel has not made any comments yet about these reports so we still have to take all of these with a grain of salt. However, they have previously indicated that they were planning a 2024 release for the series which is still far away considering the long-time process of animation. Given all the rumors that we’ve been hearing recently about the project, this should calm down fans who have been concerned about its status. Since production is currently ongoing, it sounds very unlikely that Marvel and Disney+ will decide to just pull the plug. It is normal for networks and studios to observe the ratings first before they renew it for another season.
