The DCEU just got bigger as a new anti-hero arrives in the franchise with Black Adam and it opens up to doors of possibilities for the future of the characters in the movie. Here is what happened in its ending and how it will set up what comes next.
The Ending of Black Adam Explained: Is Doctor Fate Dead? Where is His Helmet?
In Black Adam, Doctor Fate gets visions of the future through the Helmet of Fate which allows the person who wears it to see what comes next ahead of time. He usually sees the death of Hawkman, something he could not allow to happen. True to his name, Doctor Fate seals his fate by sacrificing himself and dies at the hands of Sabbac. He sealed the way through Khandaq to take on Sabbac by himself to prevent the death of Hawkman, changing the future as he saw in his vision. When Doctor Fate died, Hawkman wears the helmet to help eliminate Sabbac and after the fight, the Helmet of Fate dissolves. See, earlier in the movie, it has been discussed by Atom Smasher and Cyclone that the helmet chooses its host. While it was worn by Hawkman for a short while, it may not have chosen Hawkman to be its next wielder, just a temporary one to help defeat Sabbac, which is why it only disappeared after the battle.
The Ending of Black Adam Explained: Why The JSA Works With Amanda Waller
Amanda Waller is best known for putting up various teams of supervillains to take on dangerous missions like that in Corto Maltese in The Suicide Squad and Project Butterfly in Peacemaker which makes it questionable why the Justice Society of America is working hand-in-hand with her. Black Adam ends up to be the champion of Khandaq, not its king, and Waller tells him that Khandaq will be his new prison. She’s smart, actually, to send in a drone with her hologram considering what Black Adam did to the drone.

The Ending of Black Adam Explained: Henry Cavill Returns As Superman
As Black Adam destroys the drone after mocking Waller who threatened him, confidently, that she would call in someone to help stop Black Adam from escaping Khandaq, she did not disappoint as she called in one of the most powerful characters which could face Black Adam – Superman. The post-credits scene of Black Adam led cinemagoers to scream in excitement as Henry Cavill returns as Superman wearing his classic suit and saying, “It’s been a while since anyone’s made the world this nervous. Black Adam, we should talk.” With the confirmation of Man of Steel 2, Henry Cavill is really back in the game for DCEU and Dwayne ‘The Rock" Johnson himself is proud to make this happen as he shared with GameSpot, “I’m a big proponent in trying to think multiple steps ahead.” Johnson added, “Just the acknowledgment of, ‘We should talk.’ That’s it. Now we can go open up the DC bible, and look at some of these other cool characters that haven’t been introduced yet.” There is no announcement yet whether there would be Black Adam 2 but Johnson, in the same interview, may have already teased what the sequel could be, “In our world, to us, all the characters should interact at some point. So ideally, down the road, we will see Superman and Black Adam not only interact, but maybe do a little bit more.” Black Adam is currently showing in theaters.
