In Avatar: The Last Airbender, the Fire nation were considered the common enemy of Earth, Air, and Water nations, and seeing as Cameron plans to show the “dark side of the Na’vi” as “Ash people”, surely enough, The Last Airbender fans were quick to dismiss the idea, calling it a “rip off” of their favorite animated show. Check out some of the fan reactions below:

Interestingly, this was what Avatar: The Last Airbender Giancarlo Volpe had previously joked about in his tweet, in which he implied that if Cameron were to apply the element of “Fire” on his part 3, it would cause a riot, especially since the Avatar sequel, The Way of Water, is already closely related to Katara’s Water Tribe, given the setting.

Volpe may have addressed the elephant in the room by outwardly stating Cameron had first legal rights on the Avatar title, but this is too far a coincidence. Cameron may have previously said he had been drafting an entire world of Pandora after his first film, it’s hard to say how different the concept will be from The Last Airbender. What do you think?
