Arguably the most polarizing entry in the sequels is The Last Jedi which some consider the worst Star Wars film in existence. Sure, Episode VIII did pretty well at the box office but longtime fans of the Skywalker saga felt alienated by it. This led to Disney eventually dropping director Rian Johnson from the franchise but surprisingly enough, TLJ still had its believers. Now, almost five years following the release of the divisive film, Johnson is said to be revisiting his work on The Last Jedi. The cover of the latest Empire Magazine issue notes that the Knives Out director is dive deep into the legacy of the film. What they meant by it remains unclear but it looks like Rian is finally comfortable talking about Episode VIII.We don’t know for sure what “legacy” The Last Jedi actually left but there’s no denying that the film has generated a cult-like following over the years. Meanwhile, Johnson is said to be working on a brand new Star Wars trilogy but as it stands, details about the project have remained scarce. It would be safe to say that it’ll be his shot at redemption and any “mistake” he committed in TLJ won’t happen again.Star Wars: The Last Jedi is available for streaming on Disney+.
