In Thor: Love and Thunder, Chris Hemsworth’s hero gets an adventure of a lifetime after 1,500 years of fighting and this time, it changes his whole life. A surprise role joined him in his movie as his own daughter, India, landed a huge part to play in the film and she finally makes her MCU debut as the daughter of Gorr.
The heart of Thor: Love and Thunder centers on the choices people take in life, whether it’d be about the families one grew up in or the families one got to be with in the future and all of it boils down to choosing love, above all else, may it be painful or not.
As for Thor, he took a new path. While he lost the love of his life, he gained another woman to love: the daughter of Gorr, who Thor gets to take care of in the end.
Gorr has been killing gods for longer than everyone thought but when it comes to his plans, he only cared about one thing: getting to Eternity so he could have his daughter back to life.
However, with his death, he can only entrust his daughter to another god, the God of Thunder, and he willingly accepted the role. The girl’s name is Love, and Thor is the Thunder, hence, the title of the movie.
In the last minutes of Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor takes care of Gorr’s daughter as if his own and even lets her out for some combat training. Their chemistry works so well that viewers would easily see the connection the two stars have with each other and it is no wonder why that would be the case because the young actress is Chris Hemsworth’s daughter in real life.

India Hemsworth, daughter of Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, plays the role of the daughter of Gorr. She appeared twice already in the films of her father and Chris Hemsworth himself could not be any prouder than his daughter calling her his “favorite superhero” in his Facebook post.
In an interview with EW, Gorr himself, Christian Bale, had nothing but praise on India’s acting, “One of the memorable bits for me was working with India, with Chris’s little girl. She was so magnificent in it.”
Bale added, “it was also so cute seeing your relationship, and her having to be like, ‘Who’s this weird bald bloke who’s all covered in scars and crying over [me]?’ [I saw] what a good dad you are, gently coaxing her through it, like, ‘No, just stay there. I know he’s a bit disgusting, but just stay there.’"
Thor: Love and Thunder has a part where Thor momentarily grants his powers to the kids taken by Gorr as captives to bait the God of Thunder to use his Stormbreaker which the villain needed to open the gates to Eternity. Those kids are not just any children they got somewhere, those were the kids of the actors themselves.
In another interview, this time with Marvel.com, Taika Waititi also revealed how his own children, India Hemsworth’s siblings, and the kids of Natalie Portman and Christian Bale, played a part in the movie, too. Waititi said, ““It was not always the plan.” But then, the movie turned out to be a whole family affair.
Waititi explained, “The idea started really when Chris was talking about India. And he was like, ‘Oh, you know, it would kind of be quite cool for me to be in a scene with my daughter.’ I started looking around like, oh, everyone has kids. All of these actors have kids.”
It’s a family affair, indeed, and it’s safe to say that the movie is a great one for the whole family to watch.
Thor: Love and Thunder is now in theaters worldwide.
